Vollmar's Okay album is one
of the best album's I've heard in the last few years. Melancholy love
songs sung by someone who seems too sad and is almost losing all hope
in almost everything. This album is a major improvement from Vollmar's
13 Or So People Who Need Chances album. That was good too,
but this one has a more specialness with the songs which seemed
to be lacking a bit with that album. There is a more developed sound
with the instruments, with drums and some distorted guitars which were
lacking on many of Vollmar's other songs that I've heard in which they
mostly consisted of just acoustic guitar and vocals. My favorite songs
are "Abby", "Girl From Here To There", "Jealous
of Sue", "Sorry Sue", and the closer "Mountain Problem".
Many of the songs seem to be about someone named Sue. The song Sorry
Sue will have you feeling numb almost.

Vollmar has to be one of the best lyricists ever, too:
"Abby Abby are you fond of those blue skies? Abby, do you think
they're real? Or do you think it's all just a great big lie? Abby, what
do you feel? I never really cared for the blue skies. I hate the way
they make me feel. I really hope it's all just a great big lie. I hope
their not even real. Tell me what do you feel? You know it's such a
big mistake When you feel so bent cause you have no choice. You only
wear a crooked face When your hope is spent, cause you lost your choice.
Abby, are you fond of the moonlight? Tell me do you even care? Or do
you think it's all just an empty sky? Abby, do you even care? I never
really cared for the moonlight. I hate the way it leaves me bare. I
really hope it's all just an empty sky. I hope it's not even there.
Abby, do you even care?"
This really
is an album that every single person who's ever felt hurt should have.
I can't tell if anyone is living, I just want to know if I'm
living.
